Black Belts

These students are our most recent blackbelts at Master Juan's.

Sean: Dedicated martial artist, who balances and excels at both academics and athletics. Following are specific accomplishments:

September 2006: Earned Martial Arts Junior Black Belt at the age of 13 in Tae Kwon Do. In addition to Tae Kwon Do/Points Style Kumite, also studies Olympic Style Sparring, Okinawan weapons, Chanbara, Koshiki, Grappling, Continuous Kumite. Member of the (USKA), USA Tae Kwon Do, and Professional Karate Commission (PKC).

August 2006: Won USKA national points division (cumulative points for wins in USKA tournaments, including local, state, regional, national and worlds, across the country for the 2005-2006 season) for Kumite/Sparring, and was in top 5 for Kata/Forms and Kobudo/Weapons

August 2005: Received USKA Junior All American Award for winning his national points division in two of the three primary events, Kumite/Sparring and Kata/Forms. Also was runner up in the national points division for Kobudo/Weapons

August 2005: Received USKA Young Patriot Award – Atlee Chittim Roll of Honor, awarded to youth competitors that display not only an accomplished level of ability, but also the desired leadership

Alex

Alex Laughlin has been continuously training with Master Juan since 1996. On April 12, 2002 he received his black belt. Alex holds several Texas and Louisiana State sparring titles. In addition, he has won a number of National and World titles in Koshiki and Chanbara. Alex was one of the first recipients of the Atlee Chittim Young Patriot Award.
